美国画家乔·鲍勒 （Joe Bowlrer）1928年出生在纽约。3岁开始画画。19岁的他就出版了自己的第一本插画集，乔·鲍勒一开始是在著名的查尔斯. 库珀工作室做学徒，这使得他有机会从科比惠特莫尔等大师那里学习到手艺。
他用笔果断而又非常绚丽，画面充满舒适感和宁静感。自记事以来，乔·鲍勒一直在画画，在接受艺术教育后，他展示更为精湛的绘画技巧。也懂得成功地抓住一个个短暂时刻和相关感觉，因为油画里的女人都是，大大的胸，圆圆的腰，有型的小腹，细长的大腿，所以才有了笔下一个个栩栩如生的美人。
他的插画作品开始出现在美国主流杂志上。在他事业的早期得到了科比惠特莫尔的指导, 并和他建立了深厚的友谊。画家在欧洲度假期间, 意外感染了小儿麻痹症。他所有的肌肉都开始萎缩, 后经过长期的理疗，他的手开始恢复了活动，当恢复了正常的能动性，画家又从新回到了自己喜欢的绘画工作中。而这次从新恢复机动性返回工作。这是画家生活的转折点, 不仅涉及他的体能, 还有他绘画的态度和方法。
